Glenbrook Resort
Posted on August 4th, 2009 No commentsWritten by: Ed Danvers
Authors WebsiteThought I would write an article on this site about something I am passionate about. I am writing about Glenbrook Resort. This is a community which my family and I visit regularly and even bought a property there.
Glenbrook resort is situated on Highway 27approximately 2 miles North from the 192. It is approximately 10/15 minutes drive to the Disney gates, 20/25 minutes to Seaworld and Aquatica and within 30 minutes of the other main attractions in the Orlando area. Its only about 6 miles from Disney and on a clear night from a good vantage point you can even see the Disney fireworks.
Apart from the parks there are many other things to see and do in the central Florida area within an hours drive from Glenbrook. For golfers there are dozens of courses within less than one hour.
A 24/7 Walmart store is 3/4 minutes drive away and there are more convenient shops. Within easy walking distance you will find a Walmart, CVS, Sweetbay, Italian restaurant (eat in and take away). There are many well known restaurant names within a 5/6 minute drive.
Glenbrook is a community of approximately 250 homes, mainly 4 bedroom but with some 5,6 and 7 bedroom homes also. All homes have their own pool. Most homes are vacation homes but there are some residential properties. It is described as a resort due to there being a clubhouse with communal pool, tennis and sand volleyball courts and a small gym. Inside the clubhouse is a computer with internet access and large screen TV. There is also a small games room. All of these facilities are complimentary to guests staying at Glenbrook. There is also free DVD rental and help and advice. There is a small lake on Glenbrook and free fishing rod hire is available from the clubhouse.
Glenbrook is a peaceful community on which all building work was completed early in 2006. It is very well maintained through the efforts of an active Home Owners Association which ensures that owners comply with HOA rules to make sure that the community is well maintained and presented at all times. This means that everything is how it was intended to be with no eyesores!
The Disney area has many communities with villas for rental. Many of these are lovely with fantastic villas. Glenbrook in my opinion ranks very highly against all of these. We bought a new 7 bedroom villa in December 2005, just as the community was nearing completion. We rent it most of the year, mainly to Americans from the mid west. The feedback we have received has been fantastic and there have been many, many wonderful vacations there. We have many guests who return each year or every other year. Buying a villa in Glenbrook was one of the best decisions we have made. We visit twice each year from the UK and have enjoyed many fantastic family vacations.
Please feel free to take a look at our villa through the link to our website. You will also find links to some of the main attractions We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the area or our villa.
Best regards

Davenport For Disney!
Posted on April 15th, 2009 No commentsWritten by: Mark Yarrow
Authors WebsiteDavenport and the US 27 is growing at a fabulous rate, whilst maintaining a certain “upscale” feel about it that makes you glad you are staying there while you are enjoying the delights that Central Florida has to offer. We were first driven to the area by the Realtor to show us some properties to consider, that was back in 2003, and even then I was little bemused as to where we were going, as I counted myself as quite an Orlando savvy person. The road, “seemed “ to be, primarily a stretch of road that locals may use to head to Tampa, there appeared to be little on it apart from the odd garage, or restaurant. Though Publix was just due to open, and Walmart was down at Haines City. There were endless miles of Orange Groves. My how things have fantastically evolved!
Having been taken to a number of communities near US 27, we couldn’t resist the community that we eventually chose. Wow! ! Am I pleased for so many reasons now! In 3 short years, the place has evolved at a perfect pace with the most wonderful enhancements that just serve the area to make it, in our opinion, the place to be!
Tuscan Hills really shares the best of both worlds, we’re literally 2 minutes from the start of the US192, but we benefit from the quieter pace of life which the US27 offers us.
There are now more communities beside us, within minutes of our home you can now shop at 3 different well known supermarkets, reach the 192, I4 and hospital easily. Though the beautiful Orange groves had to go to make way for the progress made in the area , I , for one am very excited about the way the place has developed. And there is even more spectacular improvements to come soon as Posner Park (0n the old Broadwalk and Baseball site), is fully completed.
Apart from how beautiful all the communities are, it should be pointed out, from the vacationers point of view the US 27 is a great place to be, Disney is very easily reached in a matter of minutes , the I-4 is close by enabling you to get to the other attractions like Universal Studios and Islands of adventure or Seaworld and the many different malls that there are now, and there are many Golf courses right on the doorstep. The coast is a mere 50 minutes away too!
Staying on the communities of the US 27, you are offered not just newer and up to date villas, but also easy access to the things you have more than likely travelled to Orlando to visit! ! It is certainly a perfect location to be staying. Once you have returned from the hustle and bustle of the parks and attractions when you return to your vacation home you can relax knowing that you are close enough to enjoy the attractions as and when you plan to, but be far enough away to feel your villa is where you need to be to get that “chill out” time that certainly us parents need!
Whilst the US 27 undoubtedly remains the lesser known relative of the 192 area, it has sure come along, and the communities and facilities are just perfect in every way ! Don’t shy away from this most pleasant and endearing highway.

Grand Reserve

Authors WebsiteAs a very happy owner of a villa in the very peaceful private gated community of Grand Reserve in Davenport, I just thought that I’d like to take a few minutes to share my views on this lovely place. Grand Reserve was built on an area surrounded by lucious conservation ground. Many villas like our own are lucky enough to have beautiful views over Lake Thomas which is part of Grand Reserve. All around the community there are ponds and natural wooded areas which are home to some of Floridas resident wild life. Our favourites however are the elegant and sometimes funny sandhill cranes. We have now had three generations of these huge birds come to visit us on a regular basis at our home proudly showing off their new chicks to us in the Spring. On a couple of occasions we’ve had to rescue a snapper turtle from the middle of the road and return him to one of the ponds or the lake, just in case the next driver doesn’t spot him on time! We’ve spotted squirrels, racoons, rabbits and armadillos during our visits to our wonderful home all from the comfort of our screened pool deck. Grand Reserve has only 110 luxury executive homes in the community, all of which were built on 100ft double width lots, so there are no cramped side by side rows of homes to be found here! Unlike many of the other popular rental communities in the Disney area, Grand Reserve has more permanent Florida residents than tourists residing there. Many residents are very proud gardeners and at Christmas their homes are a treat when they seem to compete for the best decorated Christmas garden! I think it has made us even more house proud, as we do like to keep up with the Jones’s. We now have some lovely tropical planting surrounding our pool area, and even enjoyed our second batch of bananas from our trees this year! So if you’re looking to rent a home in the Disney area which is also a haven of tranquility to come home to after a busy day out, then look no further than Grand Reserve. You truly won’t be disapointed!

Bass Lake

Authors WebsiteBass Lake is situated close to the junction of the 192, it is a pleasant community that is part residential and part short term let villas which gives an ideal mix and a easy and laid back sort of feeling to the community. It also gives peace of mind that there is always someone around to watch over your villa which is useful if you are the owner, but the same if you are renting the villa.
Bass Lake is a private gated community with two swimming pools (one heated all year round), hot spa and club house with gym, dance floor, pool tables and library.
It is around a thirty-minute drive from Orlando International Airport and about an hour drive from Sanford Airport so is not to far from your arrival point. A ten-minute drive will get you to the Disney parks and around 20 to 25 minutes will get you up into the International Drive area with all the parks and facilities such as Wet and Wild, Universal and Sea World, of course the worlds largest McDonalds is there for the kids.
There is a bus service that runs up and down International Drive and this could be used to see where you want to visit and hop on and off as required.
Bass Lake is a superb area to base yourself as it is only an hour drive to NASA, just over an hour to the Coco beach, and the same to Daytonna where the beach is lovely sand and goes on for miles.
Closer to the estate and down on the 192, about a five minute drive away you have Kissimmee Old Town where there is shopping and a fun fair and every Saturday a vintage car parade. Just a little further is Celebration, the Disney owned town where there is always something happening and some good restaurants, and on the 192 itself, a plethora of restaurants from all you can eat places like the Golden Coral, to Steakhouses like Logans.
A couple of miles from the community is a Publix supermarket and even closer is a large 24 hour Wal-Mart.
So, the community is well situated for visiting all of the areas that you would want to in Florida, but far enough away from the glare and sounds of the parks to relax in the peace that surrounds the community. There are also several golf courses closeby should you wish to partake in this activity.
If you would like a peaceful holiday, but be able to visit the parks and restaurants on offer without to much trouble, look at Bass Lake.
