One of the most common questions that we get asked is "How do you find all the online competitions to enter?"

The first step is to join a newsgroup and share all the fun of the hobby. The number one UK group is UK.REC.COMPETITIONS it's a great group with lots of friendly users and full of comps and great advice. If you don't know how to set up newsgroups on your e-mail service you can browse the group here. You can find the answers to any questions regarding the group along with loads of other comping info over at Wibble World.

The next stage is to get used to using the many search engines available. I have tried lots but my favourite has to be GOOGLE it is by far the most accurate and I have found many comps just by typing in main keywords such as "win prize draw competition uk".

I also keep a directory of sites that I have visited and entered comps on and have a browse through it once a month or so to see if any more comps have been added since my last visit.

If you are new to the online competition hobby you can view a list of what I regard to be the top 10 of internet competition, prize draw and lottery sites here.

You can find a list of the 100 top internet competition and freebie sites here.

Top Competition tips:-

1. Always read the rules! It is so easy to just enter a competition but taking the time to read the rules can save you time and money. A lot of online competitions allow you to enter every day so obviously if the prize is something you really want to win then the more entries you make the more chance you have of winning. On the other hand some competitions only allow one entry per household so it can be easy to void your entry by entering more than once.

2. Set up an e-mail address just for entering online competitions, that way you don't clutter up your regular e-mail address with all the newsletters etc. that you have to subscribe to just to enter a comp.

3. Enter as many competitions as you can, obviously the more you enter and the more chance you have of winning. REMEMBER the only competition you have no chance of winning is the one you don't enter!

4. Check out your local library and cinema for free promotional postcards, for entering those off line competitions.

5. The hardest competition's to enter are usually the easiest to win, this is because if a tie-breaker, long form or hard questions are involved many people just cannot be bothered to enter and so the odds of a win are better.

6. ALWAYS enter the tie-breaker type competition. Some big prizes are won by the silliest of tie-breakers. Even if you THINK you are no good at tie-breakers make an effort and enter - yours may be the only one!

7. With the amount of forms you have to fill out entering online competitions it is worth downloading an automatic form filler. Our favourite is RoboForm Also worth having is Type It In this one will fill in all your details in e-mails. For more information on these and other useful comping links check out our Comper's Toolkit page.

8. If you find when entering an online comp that the pop up box with the entry form in will not let you get far enough down the screen to the submit button (this seem's to happen to me a lot) press the F11 button on the top of your keyboard and the box will be made to fit your screen as if by magic!!!

The internet is full of FREE to enter lotteries. I have been entering some of these regularly for the past couple of years and have had lots of small wins. My best cash win so far has been £25.00, and overall I have won over £500. I know this is not a fortune but many times the extra non winning numbers have only been one digit out, and every time you enter you have that chance for the jackpot. At the end of the day the UK National Lottery is only drawn twice a week and it costs £1.00 a line to enter, I enter a least 14 lines per day in the various online lotteries for free. Most of the online lotteries will send you an e-mail after the draw is made with the winning numbers and your picks so you don't even have to go back and check if you have won

To enter most lotteries you register your details and create a password, then pick your numbers and click on a banner advert (your entry into the draw is paid for by the advertiser) after 10 seconds or so you will get a confirmation that your numbers hve been entered and if more lines can be played the link to play again is displayed.

Some lotteries only allow one line per day others ten or more lines. Also some lotteries are drawn weekly, but most are drawn every day. Always check out the terms and conditions before you register to ensure that should you win they will pay out in the UK. I have registered and checked out all the sites on this page, but the small print can change so PLEASE check BEFORE you register. Also check that the jackpot is insured in the event of a win, most are.

I would also advise that you set up an e-mail address just for use entering lotteries as some of the American based sites do tend to send out a lot of junk mail.
